You’re probably wondering who’s actually working on the communication concepts and copy in the Wortwerkstatt. Well, that’s quickly answered: Ulrike is the founder and owner of Wortwerkstatt, and Maria is a talented, dedicated writer, concept developer and project manager.

Ulrike Schwarz

Position founder and CEO

since 2018, independent entrepreneur, a writer from concept to copy — all the way to the invoice.

On the way to my dream job I carried the essential toolkit with me from my Social Economics studies at JKU Linz, with a focus on International Marketing, International Management and Social and Societal Policy. For more than a decade, I was responsible for communication in a subsidiary of an internationally active industrial group — and, as deputy managing director, for contributing to the company’s success.

At work on the communicative brand development of our clients, in the strategic direction of Wortwerkstatt, and in what we create for them. And through it all, I stay true to my roots—I would never give up writing.

What keeps me moving: My family and the fire brigade, where I serve on the command team. I enjoy knitting, swimming, reading and travelling.

Maria Wallner-Angerer

Position Project management, concept, copywriting

On the way to my dream job I completed my studies in journalism and communications, as well as marketing and philosophy, in Vienna and Linz (with forays into German and Romance languages), carried out national and corporate-wide communications projects at two renowned international industry leaders, and brought my online marketing knowledge up to date.

At work I tell brands’ stories and guide clients through their projects, navigating media landscapes and communication challenges.

What keeps me active: two girls who now dance side by side, a life partner, training sessions as a dog and pony owner, and hikes through forests and alpine pastures.

The homebase #31

The market house No. 31 — known locally as the “Jagerhäusl” or the “Lower Stadler House” — is, according to oral tradition, the oldest building in the market town. It was likely built in the 12th century as the ‘Waxenberg hunting lodge’. The area formed part of the Waxenberg estate, which passed to the Babenberg dukes in 1206. First mentioned in documents in 1292 as “Newnkhirchen” and in 1356 as a “market”, the town of Oberneukirchen developed around the reputed original centre — the Jagerhäusl. The well, known as the “Jägerbrünnl”, is still located in the cellar of the house today.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Ulrike’s great‑great‑grandfather acquired house No. 31 — now home to the Wortwerkstatt.

Our bees

Others have agency dogs—we don’t. Particularly because Ulrike is afraid of dogs and therefore, Maria prefers to leave her four‑legged companions at home. So we do have bees. Behind the historic house, a natural garden stretches northeastwards, complete with a stunning view of the Sternstein. Beyond the garden lies a meadow managed in a close‑to‑nature way. The biodiversity and the undisturbed tranquillity provide an ideal habitat for several bee colonies. Beekeepers Carina Schenkenfelder and Fritz Schwarz take care of their well‑being.
